Why Is It Called ... Freestone?
A freestone river is as wild as it gets. Unregulated. And not immune to the storms, drought, and pressure. That's why freestone rivers holds a special place in Montana. They are real. In every way. So that's why we clung to the imagery of a freestone river. They are beautiful, and wild, weathered, and honest. The men that come to us fit the description. They are longing to return to the energy of wild things, but they are often exhausted from fighting the real battles life brings their way.
Who Is Invited To Freestone?
We provide shepherding to those who live public lives. Specifically that would be songwriters, artists, pastors, and executive leaders. All of those men live out their calling in the public eye. And when they get stuck, they often suffer in silence. [please watch the video for better explanation]
How Much Does It Cost?
The Freestone experience is not free ... it is scholarshiped. Real people who care about pastors, songwriters, and executive leaders pay it forward so that the guest can attend. The guest will have some small expenses. Food is on you to provide. And any passes to enter Yellowstone National Park would be on you to provide. The same goes for a Montana fishing license.
Is Freestone A Counseling Ministry?
No. We offer coaching and strategic advice for Kingdom leaders. Most specifically, we structure our ministry approach around rest and restoration. If you need therapy of any kind we have a national network for referrals. [please watch the video for better explanation]
Does Freestone Offer Guided Fishing Trips?
No. You may end up going fishing with Jason Cruise, but that is not a guided experience. Freestone is not a licensed Montana guide service. If you want a guided experience, we have several outfitters that we can route you to to experience Montana rivers in their full glory.
Can Women Attend?
Wives are absolutely welcomed to come along if you feel the need. The effects of Kingdom leadership impacts the both of you and we minister to the couple when requested.
What Are The Accommodations?
Your scholarship includes lodging and a rental vehicle. You will be staying at a wonderful AirBNB for lodging and your vehicle will most likely be a SUV of some kind. [please watch the video for better explanation]

Near Bozeman, Montana.
Is There Flexibility On Dates?
It depends. We pre-book the lodging with a AirBNB host; however, if there's room to move things around we can try. Nothing can happen on short notice with loding so let us know up front if you need some flexibility. [please watch the video for better explanation]
Deposits & Cancellations
Your trip is made possible by real people paying it forward for your experience. In order to have some measure of accountability, your spot is secured when you mail a $500 check as a deposit. You get that check returned back to you when you arrive. If you have to cancel, it costs Freestone more than $500 to pay those we network with for your stay. At least this way we have the ability to offset the loss somewhat.
